SUSTAINABILITY MASTER PLAN

EL PASO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Welcome to the El Paso International Airport (ELP) Sustainability Master Plan (SMP) project website. This website provides a venue to distribute Sustainability Master Plan updates and resources to interested members of the public and allows public input.

Project Overview

ELP is a commercial service airport owned and operated by the City of El Paso that serves as the regional transportation gateway connecting Texas, New Mexico, and Mexico. The Sustainability Master Plan will establish sustainability and performance goals that will help place ELP as an industry leader among its peers and identify incremental steps towards achieving net zero emissions at ELP.

The airport has already completed an Energy Master Plan and a Solar Feasibility Study that will be considered and incorporated into the results of the SMP. Reducing energy demand and consumption at the airport is a high priority at ELP, given the immediate effect and significance in decarbonization and climate resiliency strategy. This will in turn deliver reduction in GHG emissions, utility and maintenance cost savings, and positive health impacts for the community. The SMP is also being coordinated with the City of El Paso’s Climate Action Plan, which is also under development.

The SMP will weave together elements of environmental, economic, and social impact to chart a path for optimal outcomes at ELP and the surrounding community.
